Wedding at Rise Hall - Jemima and Garreth

Image
One of this summer's highlights was photographing the wedding of Jemima and Garreth.  I had already done a family shoot with them and their twin babies, plus I had photographed her sister's wedding the year before, so they knew me well and how easy-going and relaxed I made them feel - important if you are already  bit nervous about having your photo taken! I got there as hair and makeup were being done, and the rooms they had for their preparations were spacious, beautiful and had lovely light from the windows, which makes things that little bit easier! The dress I managed to track down groom Garreth for a quick set of portraits before he was whisked away to see the registrar, then on to the ceremony room, with the adjoining doors opened up to increase the capacity, and it was still standing room only at the back! We were tightly packed at the front as well, so was shoulder-to-shoulder with videographer Sam from Blink Video during the ceremony.  Then we were le...

Andrew and Helen's wedding at Tickton Grange

Image
If a wedding is to have a theme, summed up in one word, this one was definitely all about the "dance"! Andrew and Helen were lovely to work with, and enjoyed their special day immensely, not even letting an early-morning downpour of rain put them off. They had been brought together by dance classes in Howden with Feathersteps School of Dance , learning latin and ballroom.  They went as individuals and soon became a couple.  My good friend Sophie Brooke recommended me as their wedding photographer , so they give me a call and that was that! Between us, we even recommended the Tickton Grange hotel near Beverley when they asked for ideas on venue, needing a large capacity.  With the Rose Room as a ceremony and reception room, they also have a pleasant bar and patio area leading to the beautiful gardens. Helen and Andrew both finished their preparations in the hotel, before the ceremony.  Colour scheme for the flowers and dresses was classic baby blue and pink, ...

Louise and Josh - Pre-wedding / engagement photoshoot

Image
We are building up to summer wedding season, so have been meeting up with the couples who are getting married soon.  I first met Josh and Louise when I was photographing her friend's wedding back in early 2017.  In fact she was a bridesmaid, so she had chance to see me at work from the bridal preparations through to the evening. Like most couples, they were a little bit camera-shy, but we soon got into the swing of things, exploring the different garden areas of Willerby Manor Hotel on a sunny Sunday morning. We talked about the things they liked and things to watch out for (we all know we pull funny faces sometimes!) and had some fun, in fact the shoot lasted longer than usual - we were having such a great time!

Rachael and Danny's wedding album - Hallmark hotel in Ferriby

Image
May was such a busy month for making albums!  Some of my wedding clients have been unusually keen to get their photos all laid out and printed.  Normally most people take a while to relax and think of anything but weddings, but just lately they've been on it (and why not?)! Rachael and Danny were married at Hallmark hotel in Ferriby at the end of April and had their online  photos to view within a week (my usual target!) but they'd chosen their album selection within a month! They went for a landscape format 30x20cm book (part of my standard wedding photography packages ) finished in a smooth light brown "cappuccino" colour faux leather.

Sequoia suede portrait album - Replay

Having a real album to hold and cherish those memories just can't be beaten by digital media.  This album was particularly special as it was a collection of photographs of a much-loved animal who had sadly left us two years ago, belonging to a good friend of mine, and leaving a big hole in their lives when he passed.  As a birthday present to her mum, we set about designing the book, containing some of her own photographs as well as ones I was commissioned to take over four years ago, where I had photographed many of the other animals at their family home.  I was lucky enough to see her mum's reaction when she was presented with it.  Lots of tears and happiness, just looking over and over again. For the cover we decided on a beautiful sequoia suede -  as well as looking and feeling wonderful, it's colour was a perfect match -  all finished with a simple embossed name on the front - Replay.
