Model portfolio shoot with Georgia

Image
Last week, Georgia came into my photo studio on Willerby Road Hull for a portfolio shoot .  She had previously been to me when she was modelling for a local fashion designer Heiress Studios only a few weeks earlier.  She had done some glamour work before but was looking for more fashion and art looks with thoughts of submitting to some modelling agencies. We had already discussed some ideas, and she brought a good selection of outfits, from casual to dresses and smart business-wear.  First shots were a high-key light setup was on a white background with a pale cream wide-legged trouser suit with a white corset and high-heeled shoes.   Next, she changed into a white lacy dress so I chose a grey background to give some contrast The penultimate setup kept the same background but a slightly more dramatic lighting to bring out the details in the darker coat and long black dress . The last set was with a cream skirt and bikini top, and then just the skirt, t...

Male model photoshoot with Atif

Image
Male model photoshoot with Atif Male model Aatif in stripy shirt Aatif got in touch to arrange a photoshoot as he wanted to get more photos for his modelling portfolio.  He has done lots of modelling back home in Pakistan but wanted some UK shots while he was here studying. He brought plenty of different outfits so we had lots to choose from.  A sharp suit was one of my suggestions, as I had an image in my head with plenty of contrast in the lighting. We worked through so many looks including casual and sportswear, with dark and light backgrounds and different lighting, but these with a dressier, darker and moody theme were my favourites!   If you want to get some modelling photos done, please get in touch through the website contact page.

Model photoshoot with Jade - and some colour theory

Image
I had previously worked with Jade when she was modelling on a shoot we did for fashion brand Heiress Studios, who make handmade crocheted pieces for beach and clubwear, and while she hadn't done a lot of modelling before, she had a great look.  She has had a change of hair colour since the first shoot, going from blonde to radiant redhead, so I wanted to shoot in a way that would suit the colour and make the most of capturing this change. Jade - redhead model with blue/green background I'm by no means an expert on colour theory, but my basic knowledge about the colour wheel told me that her vibrant red/orange is somewhere opposite green/blue, so my dark green backdrop made a great complementary colour.  The contrasting colours really do make it pop!  The original plan was based on a black and white photo that I'd seen.  It was a simple one-light setup, with a beauty dish (+diffuser) directly in front and above Jade, with a white reflector underneath.  This would...

Boudoir modelling shoot with Cazza

Image
I had a wonderful shoot with model Cazza Hoops.  It is good to just try things out - new photography techniques or lighting styles.  A paying client doesn't  want to be hanging around while you experiment, so these personal shoots are a great opportunity to stretch ourselves. We started with some simple low-key silhouette backlighting, using some gridded striplight set to the sides and just behind her, with a large white reflector in front to bounce a bit of light back into the shadows.  Just moving it further or closer changed the effect it had. For the next ones, I used just one light with a snoot attached, positioned right behind Cazza, which gave one small point of light, and as she changed positions it gave a halo effect.  With a model like her, she could be left to do her own thing with the poses.  I just had to catch it as the light hit right spot! backlit shot of model Cazza Hoops at Darryl Brooks Photography studio Hull The last set used a sc...

Nuala photoshoots at Darryl Brooks Photography Studio Hull

Image
Nuala - Fashion and beauty photoshoot at Darryl Brooks Photography Studio Hull Nuala came into my studio after we had been discussing the type of photos she liked.  She had been wanting to do a photoshoot for some time but life had been getting in the way.  She has her own business, and as anyone in that situation know, there are usually not enough hours in the day, especially when you have a family as well!  With that in mind, we made a plan in advance, and I was already set up for a few different looks before she had even set foot inside the studio , worked quickly and were done in a timely fashion. It was so successful that we arranged another shoot soon after! She has a strong sense of style and fashion, so we leaned heavily into that fashion magazine kind of look. A quick change of outfit and we headed outside to the back of studio for a more industrial look.   For her other shoot, she brought another selection of outfits.  We first opted for a long wh...

Wet and wild photoshoot with Sofia

Image
We had discussed a few different ideas about doing another photoshoot, with some being a bit more complex and on location, but due to logistics and scheduling, we had to put some of those on the backburner.  One of the ideas that Sofia had was "my hair wet and a bit wild" and we decided very quickly that we could do that, had some free time, so did it.  Sofia is a fitness instructor based in Hull East Yorkshire so we also did some more fitness-based shots for her business.  A quick application of baby oil and a few sprays of water got the glistening look that we wanted.  With a high key light from an umbrella and a silver reflector below, rim lighting was done with two gridded stripboxes to prevent her being lost in the black background.

Boudoir photography in Kingston Upon Hull

Image
I had a brilliant boudoir photoshoot with Chloe recently.  She came to my studio on Wincolmlee in Hull,  and brought her friend along for a bit of moral support!  She also brought a stack of outfits.  We had discussed ideas in the days before the shoot, so she had a rough idea what to bring, but couldn't quite decide until she arrived. She was game for everything, and we had a fun shoot, working thourgh various outfits (and some with nothing but a bedsheet!  She wanted to give some prints as an anniversary present - a nice surprise for her husband! As well as some lingerie sets, we did some more casual and sporty looks, so we had a good selection to choose from. Model shoot with Natalja

Image
Natalja came for her second photoshoot this week.  We had previously done some fashion-style photos at the studio, after abandoning an outdoor shoot due to the wintery weather, but this time we had discussed a few ideas based on some more sensual photos we had seen online. She brought a selection of quite fabulous lingerie and worked to implied nude (even though she wasn't quite!)   Although she said she had not modelled before, she had a great look and took direction when needed, but was happy to play around with her posing.  Here are some of my favourites.  If you want to arrange a shoot of your own in the Hull East Yorkshire, get in touch through my contact page .

Model Portfolio Photoshoot with Billy

Image
Modelling photoshoot with Billy at the studio in Hull Billy wanted some headshot and three-quarter photos to put through to modelling agencies, so made the journey over to my studio in Hull for a short session.   Even though the session was less than an hour long, I like to work quickly so we went through a few outfit and lighting changes inside the studio and also ventured outside for some chilly shots on the wharf.  If you want to give modelling a try, get a set of professional photos with me!  Get in contact here

Portfolio Shoot with Madison

Image
Having worked with Madison a year ago, doing actor headshots for her, I was pleased to arrange another shoot with her this year, this time a bit more fashion modelling.  We found a nice location in Hedon, just outside of Hull, aiming for that time just before sunset, allowing for the trees that would hide the last of the sun.  I thought a casual look would work best in these surroundings and Madison chose a perfect outfit and looked incredible as always.  Here are some of my favourites.  If you are looking for a photographer in the Hull area for headshots or fashion, get in touch via the website.
