Property for sale - home photography in Howden

Image
I was asked by a friend to photograph her house as she was putting it on the market.  She knows I am a property photographer - I've been photographing houses for estate agents and property owners in East Yorkshire for about six years now around - and she wanted her house to be shown in the best way possible. She has had the house about two years and had completely refurbished it - new plastering, new flooring, all redecorated - so I knew it would be beautiful, and jumped at the chance.  We also did a virtual tour, as the worry of COVID could put people off a physical viewing. An hour after going live on the agent's website, she had two viewing booked.  Within a few days she had offers of the asking price! More details about house photography are at my website   Oh, and here, is that virtual tour!

Zoe & Rob's Wedding at Beverley Minster & Tickton Grange

Image
This weekend I was glad to present Zoe and Rob with their lovely leather-bound wedding album.  This is the story of their special day.  After five months of not photographing weddings due to the COVID19 lockdown, it was such a relief to hear that Zoe and Rob were sticking to their plan and going ahead, albeit with the government restrictions on numbers.  With less than 30 guests, the shortened ceremony took place at Beverley Minster, before a trip to the Westwood for some photos at the Black Mill, their special place where Rob proposed, then to Tickton Grange for their reception.  It was held outdoors in one of their open-sided buildings at The Farmstead, and despite a bit of wind, the weather held out for this brave couple!    If you think planning a wedding is hard work, consider this - they grew and arranged all of their bouquets!

Commercial portrait shoot for Annette

Image
Annette was setting up a website for her nutritional therapy and yoga business and needed some photographs for it -  "I don't have any nice ones of myself!" I went along to her home (a little village I had never heard of before, somewhere between Driffield and Pocklington) and took some relaxed portraits of her at her "desk" in her lovely kitchen/diner, and out in the garden, before some yoga poses in the lounge. The results can be found at her new website -  annettejames-yoga.co.uk but these are a few of my personal favourites. Stephanie's photoshoot!

Image
One of the last images from the shoot - fantastic! A while back I put on the offer of a free photoshoot (details here if you missed it).  Our winner was Stephanie, who came to my studio in Hull a few weeks ago.  She entered the draw because she was dared by her fiance!  As is usually the case, she was a little bit nervous, having never done such a thing, and especially as it was all about her - nowhere to hide! Looking through the images, I could see she was soon getting into it, with some real energy coming out.   The point of the one-to-one shoot is to help gain some confidence, and this was particularly useful as she has her wedding coming up next year. 😀 There will be more offers coming up so keep an eye on the social media pages! North East Lincolnshire Property Shoot

Image
I had a bit of a road trip today, venturing over the Humber Bridge into North Lincolnshire and then North East Lincolnshire (and possibly dipping between them for a while) ending up at a lovely detached house up for sale in Aylesby.   A lovely established garden looking out onto fields behind in a rural setting, with a summer house and pool room (not the watery type 😁) For more information about making your house get the maximum interest, go to my  website

Free Photoshoot Offer!

Image
Are you like me?   I scroll through a lot of photographers' stuff on social media.  I see the same thing: beautiful photos of twenty-year-old models, being all youthful, vibrant and without a worry-line in sight!  What about the rest of us? We all get older.  I'm getting older, that's for sure.  But inside, we still feel like that 20-year-old (or at least a bit, until we try to get out of that chair 😆). We need to embrace it, and capture it.   These images are a set from a project I started with the gorgeous Olena, who is planning to celebrate a very notable birthday in the next few months. It ends in a zero, and that's all I will say.   I asked her to bring a few changes of outfit: some casual things and and something a bit more dressy, allowing us get a few different looks from an hour in the studio.  Despite doing one bit of modelling before for a friend, she was a bit nervous about it and unsure what to do, but soon overcame the nerves and got in to it. Alison and Dale's wedding album

Image
Here is an album with a selection of photos from Alison and Dale's wedding at Lazaat hotel in Cottingham.  This album was made by Graphistudio, based in Italy, who have been making wedding albums for decades and supplying wedding photographers all over the world.  There are so many options available that it can be quite overwhelming!  This is one from my standard range and still looks beautiful.  They went with a cloud leatherette in light grey.

Hull University Hockey - Old Boys and Girls Annual Dinner event 2020

Image
While we are in the difficult situation of balancing being safe with keeping our freedom, and while we are unable to host big events, I'm reminded of one from earlier this year - The Hull University Hockey Society Old Boys and Girls annual dinner.  I've been attending this event (as the photographer!) for many years now and there are still faces I remember from the very first one! As well as more formal photos with my mini-studio set up in a corner, I get more natural shots of people having a laugh. They are a raucous bunch, but fairly well-behaved and always make me feel welcome and part of the gang! I have covered birthdays from 5th to 90th as well as family get-togethers and corporate dinner dances, so  get in contact for more information. The full set of photos can be found  here

Megan and Max's wedding album

Image
A lovely wedding album chosen by Megan and Max for their January wedding at Lazaat hotel in Cottingham.  They went with navy leather cover, with the colour matching their colour scheme perfectly!  It also had the optional finishing touch of having their names embossed on the front. Here is a short video of a look through it
