Wedding ceremony in the Blue Hall at The Merchant Taylors Hall York |
I had to share some more photos from the wedding I did a few weeks ago at The Merchant Taylors' Hall in York!
Daniela made her bridal preparations at the nearby Doubletree hotel in York. My wedding photography packages start at just a few hours, but they wanted the full works from getting ready to their evening celebrations.

The Merchant Taylors' Hall is a remarkable medieval guildhall with a rich history dating back to 1415, the same year as the Battle of Agincourt! Originally built by the Fraternity of St. John the Baptist, which was associated with the Taylors' Guild, the hall has served various purposes over the centuries.

The Blue Hall, York |
The Great Hall, with its impressive timber-framed roof, showcases medieval craftsmanship, while the Blue Hall, added in the late 15th century, has been used as a council house, counting house, and possibly a chapel. The hall also features stunning stained glass windows by York artist Henry Gyles, including one depicting Queen Anne.
Today, the Merchant Taylors' Hall not only serves as a significant part of York's heritage but also provides a unique and atmospheric venue for weddings. Its historic charm, beautiful architecture, and versatile spaces make it a memorable setting for couples to celebrate their special day, creating new memories in a venue steeped in history. The Great Hall hosts your wedding breakfast and evening reception, while the smaller Blue Hall is a cosy location for the wedding ceremony itself.

Walking down the aisle |
There was a bit of a story to be told at this wedding. As well as running late, when it came to the exchange of rings, they'd left them in the car! They didn't have time to go get them so used some "loaners" but soon had the real ones before the end of the ceremony!

From then on it went relatively smoothly, with a hog roast outside, meaning a lovely informal meal and lots of laughs. The night was finished off with a father/daughter dance. If you are getting married in the York area, get in touch with your details
